EPDM (Ethylene Propylene Diene Monomer) granules are high‑performance rubber particles used as the top wearing course for various synthetic running tracks, playgrounds, and recreational surfaces. Our EPDM granules are made from 100% virgin EPDM raw material – no recycled rubber content. The most critical quality indicator is rubber content, typically ranging from 15% to 30%. Higher rubber content directly translates to better elasticity, UV resistance, color retention, and service life.

We supply EPDM granules in multiple rubber content grades to match different project budgets and performance requirements. All grades offer excellent weather resistance, but higher rubber content provides significantly longer color life and slower aging – especially important for outdoor applications in high‑sunlight regions.

Outdoor EPDM granules are constantly exposed to sunlight. UV radiation degrades the polymer, causing:

• Surface fading and color change

• Loss of elasticity – granules become hard and brittle

• Cracking and powdering

• Reduced safety (loss of slip resistance)

Our Premium and Ultra grade granules incorporate UV stabilizers into the polymer matrix. Independent QUV testing confirms:

• Premium grade: No significant color change after 1000 hours accelerated weathering

• Ultra grade: No significant color change after 2000 hours (equivalent to 5‑7 years outdoor exposure in tropical regions)

• Top layer for all types of synthetic running tracks (breathable, composite, mixed, full PU, foamed full PU)

Q1: What is rubber content and why does it matter?
→ Rubber content is the percentage of pure EPDM polymer in the granule. The rest is filler (calcium carbonate, etc.). Higher rubber content means better UV resistance, color retention, elasticity, and longer life. Standard grade (15-18%) is acceptable for indoor use. For outdoor sun‑exposed applications, use Premium (20-25%) or Ultra (25-30%).

Q2: How do I choose the right rubber content for my project?
→ For indoor tracks or low‑sun regions (Northern Europe, Canada): Standard grade is fine. For outdoor school tracks in moderate sun: Premium grade. For professional tracks in high‑sun regions (Middle East, Africa, SE Asia, Australia, Latin America): Ultra grade (25-30%) is strongly recommended.

Q3: Will the color fade in sunlight?
→ All EPDM granules fade over time. However, higher rubber content and added UV stabilizers significantly slow fading. Premium grade granules retain good color for 4‑5 years. Ultra grade retains for 6‑8 years in outdoor tropical conditions. Standard grade may show noticeable fading after 2‑3 years.

Q4: What is the typical particle size?
→ Standard sizes: 1-3mm (most common for track top layers), 1-4mm, 2-4mm, 3-5mm (for playgrounds). Custom sizes available.

Q5: Do you provide test reports for PAHs and UV resistance?
→ Yes. We can provide SGS or TÜV test reports for PAHs (EU standards), rubber content, and UV resistance (QUV accelerated weathering).
