Sandwich PU Running Track/Sandwich System Running Track/Sandwich System Athletics Track/Hybrid Running Track / Mixed Type Running Track/Synthetic Running Track
Key Advantages
  • High resilience & dense structure
  • PU binder mixed with rubber granules (approx. 25%-30% content)
  • Spikable surface for competition use
  • 8-12 years service life
  • Compliant with World Athletics standards
Product Overview

The Mixed Running Track is a dense elastic system formed by mixing polyurethane (PU) binder with rubber granules (approximately 25%-30% rubber granule content) in a specific ratio, troweling onto asphalt or concrete base, then applying a pure PU top coat and scattering EPDM anti-slip granules, with a total thickness of 13mm. The elastic layer has high density and strong rebound. It is currently the only plastic surfacing material with a national standard, mainly used for professional competition venues and training bases.

✅ Ideal for: professional athletics competition venues, sports university training fields, international school sports fields, provincial/national sports centers, high-frequency professional training bases.

✅ Mixed vs Composite vs Porous: Mixed track adopts PU binder mixed with rubber granules in the elastic layer, high density, spikable, suitable for high-intensity competition use. Composite track applies a PU slurry over a porous elastic layer followed by a spray coat, with performance between porous and mixed. Porous track has an open-cell structure, water-permeable and breathable, but lower spike resistance and rebound.

Key feature: The elastic layer adopts PU binder mixed with rubber granules, higher density than porous and composite tracks. Top layer can be scattered granules or sprayed textured finish (customizable). Strong rebound, spikable (accepts ≤9mm spikes), long service life.

Granules – Multiple Choices

We offer two sources of granules:

Type Source Advantage Recommended for
Recycled Granules Recycled tire rubber (black granules) Low cost, eco-friendly, adequate elasticity School training fields, community tracks, economy mixed track solutions
Virgin Granules Virgin EPDM weather-resistant color granules Long-lasting color, stable performance, high rubber content, UV & ozone resistant Professional competition venues, IAAF-certified stadiums, premium clubs

✅ Both types can be used in mixed track systems. For the elastic layer, we recommend using 25%-30% recycled black granules mixed with PU binder. For the top layer, virgin EPDM granules are recommended for best performance and appearance.

✅ Note: Mixed tracks are available in two top surface types – spray-coated type (PU mixed with EPDM granules sprayed) and scattered-granule type (EPDM granules scattered over pure PU slurry). Customizable upon request.

Applications
  • Professional athletics competition venues
  • Provincial/national sports centers
  • Sports university professional training bases
  • International school competition-level sports fields
  • High-frequency professional training tracks
  • Corporate sports facilities
  • Professional sports club training venues

FAQ
  1. What is the difference between mixed track and composite track?
→ Mixed track uses PU binder mixed with rubber granules (approx. 25%-30% content) to form a high-density elastic layer with strong spike resistance, suitable for professional competition venues. Composite track applies a PU slurry over a porous elastic layer followed by a spray coat, with performance between porous and mixed, but less durable and stable than mixed track.
  2. Is the mixed track suitable for rainy regions?
→ Mixed track is a dense, non-permeable structure. The base layer must be properly waterproofed and the site must have a good drainage system. Its advantage is that the surface does not absorb water, allowing quick resumption of use after rain.
  3. Can the mixed track accept spiked shoes?
→ Yes. Mixed track has strong spike resistance and can accept ≤9mm spikes. Professional sprint spikes (≤9mm) can be used normally without damage, even at high-frequency areas like the 100m starting zone.
  4. What is the service life of mixed track?
→ Under normal use and maintenance, mixed track lasts 8-12 years, longer than porous track (5-8 years) but slightly shorter than full PU track (10-15 years).
  5. Can I buy only materials without installation service?
→ Yes. We focus on material supply and provide full drawings and guidance for self-installation, or can recommend local contractors.
  6. What is the MOQ?
→ No minimum. Any quantity from a few drums/bags to thousands of tons.
  7. What binder packages are available?
→ Standard 200kg steel drum; also 20kg plastic drum for easy handling and small jobs.
